Should the head be checked for cracks?
Yes, after serious overheating we recommend a leak test: skimming does not fix cracks.
Which gasket should be fitted after skimming?
Genuine or a quality alternative, your choice. If a lot of metal was removed from the head, we choose a gasket of the right thickness.
