Valve Adjustment — with thermal clearance measurement
The engine has a valve knock, especially when cold, runs unevenly, or the adjustment is due under the maintenance schedule. We remove the valve cover, measure the clearances with a feeler gauge and set them with screws or by selecting shims, then fit the cover with a new gasket. The job takes from 3 hours.

How often do valves need adjusting?
According to your engine manufacturer's schedule, or sooner if a knock appears. Engines with hydraulic lifters do not need adjustment.
What happens if I don't adjust them?
Too small a clearance leads to valve burnout, too large a clearance leads to knocking and camshaft wear. Repair after that costs more than the adjustment.
How long does the job take?
From 3 hours. If shims are needed that are not in stock, the time depends on their delivery.
