Hydraulic Steering Rack Restoration — with new seals
Fluid leaking from the rack, a knock over bumps or steering that is heavier in one direction can often be fixed without a new rack. We remove the rack, strip it, replace the seals, O-rings, bushes and boots, reassemble it and bleed the system with fresh fluid. We send photos of the wear and agree the price before the repair, and show you the removed parts afterwards.

How long does the restoration take?
Usually from two days: the rack has to be removed, stripped, the repair kit sourced and the rack reassembled.
Can I drive with a leaking rack?
For a short time, keeping an eye on the fluid level. If the fluid runs out, the power steering pump will run dry and can fail.
Does the power steering pump need replacing?
Not always. We check it for noise and leaks, and if the pump is worn, we show you and agree its replacement separately.
