Tie Rod Replacement — with new boot clips
A dull knock through the steering wheel over bumps, play, or a car that wanders on a straight road are common signs of a worn tie rod joint. We remove the tie rod end and boot, unscrew the tie rod from the rack and fit a new one, then refit the boot with new clips. We send a video of the play and agree the price before we start, and show you the old tie rod afterwards.

What is the difference between a tie rod and a tie rod end?
The tie rod screws into the rack and sits under the boot; the tie rod end connects it to the wheel. Either can wear, so we first find exactly where the play is.
Can I drive with a knocking tie rod?
For a short time and with care. The play grows, the steering becomes less precise and the tyres wear faster.
How long does the replacement take?
Usually from an hour per side, not counting the wheel alignment.
